DaShon Hugh Goldson was born on September 18, 1984 in Carson, CA. He attended Narbonne High in Los Angeles, CA. He enrolled at Coffeyville (KS) Community College after high school, where he recorded 99 tackles, two interceptions, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery as a freshman. He earned first-team All-Jayhawk Conference honors as well as being named the conference's Defensive Player of the Year. He was also named first-team NJCAA All-American before transferring to Washington. His first season there he started all 11 games at free safety. He finished the year with 64 tackles, one tackle for loss, two interceptions, five pass breakups, one forced fumble and two recoveries. He started all 11 games at free safety as a junior, recording 80 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and one interception, which he returned 76 yards for a touchdown. He also had three pass breakups and one fumble recovery on the year. He moved to cornerback as a senior, starting 10 of 11 games. He finished the year with 50 tackles, two tackles for loss, one interception, 10 pass breakups and one fumble recovery on his way to honorable mention All-Pac-10 honors. He was originally drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in the fourth round (126th overall) of the 2007 NFL Draft. He was voted to the Pro Bowl in 2011 and 2012.
