He was born on March 15, 1992 in Miami, FL where he attended Miami Central High. As a true freshman at Florida State, he started final 7 of 12 games and led the team in rushing with 579 yards on 120 carries (4.8 avg) and 8 touchdowns. He also caught 15 passes for 111 yards (7.4 avg). Started final 4 of 13 games as a sophomore, leading team with 660 yards on 111 carries (5.9 avg) and 8 touchdowns. He also had 10 catches for 86 yards (8.6 avg). As a junior, he started all 14 games, rushing 173 times for 1,016 yards (5.9 avg) and 14 touchdowns.
