Donald Vili Tialavea, Jr. was born on July 27, 1991 and attended West Jordan (UT) High. His last name is pronounced TEE-al-uh-VAY-uh. As a redshirt freshman at Utah State, he played in nine games as a reserve tight end and earned a single start. He returned just two kickoffs for 30 yards (15.0 avg) with no receptions. As a sophomore he started six of 13 games and caught seven passes for 74 yards (10.6 avg) and a touchdown. As a junior he started seven of 12 games at tight end, but also logged some snaps at offensive tackle in two games. He finished the year with six receptions for 31 yards (5.2 avg) and a touchdown. During his senior year he started four of six games at tight end and had career-highs of 17 catches for 93 yards (5.5 avg) and three touchdowns. He also attempted one pass on a fake punt which was incomplete. His senior year was cut short by a broken right foot. He was originally signed by the Jacksonville Jaguars as an undrafted free agent in 2014.
