Jhurell Pressley was born on May 20, 1992 in Newark, DE and graduated from Red Lion Academy in Bear, DE. As a redshirt freshman at New Mexico, he started one of 13 games. He finished the year with 104 carries for 462 yards (4.4 avg) and six touchdowns, while also snagging four receptions for 86 yards and another score. As a sophomore he appeared in 12 games, rushing for 273 yards and six scores on 29 carries (9.4 avg), while adding six receptions for 68 yards. As a junior he started five of 12 games, leading the team with 1,083 rushing yards on 114 carries with 12 scores. His 9.5 yards per carry led the nation. He added seven receptions for 46 yards and a two-point conversion on his way to honorable mention All-Mountain West Conference. As a senior, he started 10 of 13 games and rushed for 907 yards on 147 carries (6.2 avg) with 11 touchdowns and one catch for two yards. He was originally signed by the Minnesota Vikings as an undrafted rookie following the 2016 NFL Draft.
