Joshua Wilson was born on March 11, 1985 and attended DeMatha Catholic High in Hyattsville, MD. His father is former NFL fullback Tim Wilson, who played for the Houston Oilers (1977-82) and New Orleans Saints (1983-84). As a freshman at the University of Maryland, Wilson tallied two tackles in 11 games. As a sophomore, he started the final four games at cornerback, finishing the year with 27 tackles, 3 pass breakups, and 2 forced fumbles. He became the full-time starter at boundary cornerback his junior year, starting all 11 games. He finished the year with 73 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, 2 sacks, 1 interception, 8 pass breakups, 2 forced fumbles, and 2 blocked punts. He earned Academic All-ACC honors that year as well. As a senior, he started all 13 games at boundary corner, and earned Academic All-ACC honors for the second time as well as honorable mention All-ACC. He finished the year with 55 tackles, 2.5 for loss, 2 sacks, 1 interception, 12 pass breakups, a blocked punt, and returned 31 kickoffs for 847 yards (27.3 avg) and a touchdown. He was originally selected by the Seattle Seahawks in the 2nd round (55th overall) of the 2007 NFL Draft.
