He was born on March 26, 1991 in Memphis, TN and attended Germantown (TN) High. As a redshirt freshman at Arkansas State, he appeared in 12 games as a backup defensive back. He finished the year with 4 tackles and 1 pass breakup. As a sophomore, he made the switch to wide receiver where he started once in 8 appearances. He caught 4 passes for 88 yards (22.0 avg) that year and also returned 4 kickoffs for 72 yards (18.0 avg). As a sophomore, he was a backup and played in 13 games. He caught 13 passes for 394 yards (30.3 avg) and 7 touchdowns. As a senior, he became the starter and in 13 games he caught 52 passes for 641 yards (12.3 avg) and 4 touchdowns. He earned Sun Belt Academic Honor Roll in 2010 as a freshman. He was originally signed by the Atlanta Falcons as an undrafted free agent following the 2014 NFL Draft.
