Kevin Lamar Stone was born in Stone Mountain, GA and attended St. Piux X Catholic HS in Atlanta. He is the son of Ronny Cone, a running back who was drafted by the New York Jets in the 10th round of the 1984 NFL Draft. He enrolled at Shorter College in Rome, GA out of high school, catching 12 passes for 83 yards (6.9 avg) and 2 scores in 7 games. He also returned a punt for 23 yards.
