Levine Joseph Toilolo was born on July 30, 1991 in San Diego, CA. He attended Helix High School in La Mesa, CA. Has three uncles that played in the NFL: Dan Saleaumua, defensive tackle mostly with the Kansas City Chiefs from 1987-98; guard Edwin Mulitalo (1999-08) mostly with Baltimore Ravens; and defensive tackle Joe Salave'a (1998-06) mainly with Tennessee Titans and Washington Redskins. He redshirted his first year at Stanford. As a freshman, he started the season opener and caught a pass for 27 yards before tearing his ACL and being lost for the year. As a sophomore, he started 10 of 13 games, catching 25 passes for 343 yards (13.7 avg) and 6 touchdowns. His junior year, he started all 14 games, catching 24 passes for 393 yards (16.4 avg) and 4 touchdowns. He declared early for the 2013 NFL Draft and was selected by the Atlanta Falcons in the fourth round (133rd overall). His name is pronounced La-Veen Toy-lo-lo.
