Michael Lee Meyer was born on June 2, 1992 in Dubuque, IA where he attended Walhert High School. As a true freshman he appeared in 13 games, connecting on 14 of 17 field goals and 31 of 33 extra points. He also averaged 65.1 yards on 69 kickoffs with 15 touchbacks. As a sophomore he appeared in 13 games, connecting on 14 of 20 field goals and all 44 extra-point attempts. He averaged 63.0 yards on 66 kickoffs with four touchbacks. He was named a semifinalist for the Lou Groza Award, awarded to the top kicker in the nation. As a junior he appeared in 12 games, making 17 of 21 field goals and all 25 extra-point attempts. He averaged 62.6 yards on 51 kickoffs with 21 touchbacks. He earned All-Big Ten honorable mention. During his senior year he played in 13 games, making 16 of 22 field goals and all 41 extra-point attempts. He averaged 61.7 yards on 68 kickoffs with 30 touchbacks on his way to earn second-team All-Big Ten honors. He was originally signed by Tennessee Titans as an undrafted rookie free agent following the 2015 NFL Draft.
