Ra'Shede Knox was born on August 2, 1990. At age 7, he was adopted by Eric Hageman and Jill Coyle. He attended Washburn High in Minneapolis, MN. As a redshirt freshman at Minnesota, he played in 8 games as a reserve and ended the year with 5 tackles. He was suspended for the final 4 games due to academic issues. As a sophomore, he played in 13 games as a backup with 13 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, 2 sacks and a forced fumble. He earned starting defensive tackle position as a junior, starting 12 games. He finished the year with 35 tackles, 7.5 for loss, 6 sacks, 1 forced fumble, and 2 pass breakups. He started all 13 games at defensive tackle, finishing with 38 tackles, 13 for loss, 2 sacks, 1 interception, 8 pass breakups and 2 blocked kicks. He was selected by Atlanta Falcons in second round (37th overall) of the 2014 NFL Draft.
