Sharod White was born on November 2, 1981 in James Island, SC. He attended St. James High in Charleston, SC before enrolling at UAB. He started 7 of 9 games as a true freshman, catching 14 passes for 236 yards (16.9 avg) and 2 touchdowns. As a sophomore, he logged all 12 starts, and finished the season with 39 catches for 580 yards (14.9 avg) and 3 scores. He put up similar numbers as a junior with 12 starts, 39 catches for 844 yards (21.6 avg) and 7 touchdowns. He had 71 catches for a nation-leading 1452 yards (20.5 avg) and 14 touchdowns as a senior. For his career, he also returned 5 kickoffs for 76 yards (15.2 avg). He earned 2nd team All-Conference USA honors as a junior, and 1st team honors as a senior. Contract Details
Signed to a five-year contract worth $7.3 million, including about $4.75 million in guaranteed money. The guaranteed money is most likely made up of a signing bonus and an option bonus in 2006 ... Signed a six-year extension worth up $50 million in 2009. The deal includes $42.72 million in new money. $18.6 million of his new contract is guaranteed, including his 2009 and 2010 base salaries along with a $6 million signing bonus. His 2009 base salary increases from $2.28 million to $6 million. His remaining base salaries are: $6.6 million (2010); $4 million (2011); $5.5 million (2012); $5.6 million (2013); $5 million (2014). He is due a $5.3 million option bonus in 2011, and a $1 million roster bonus in 2013. Included in the deal are $4 million in additional incentives/escalators based around Pro Bowl appearances and $1 million off-season workout bonuses (2010-14).
