Taniela Tupou was born on December 13, 1992 in Honolulu, HI but graduated from Archbishop Murphy High in Everett, WA. His name is pronounced: tawn-ee-AY-luh too-POE. As a redshirt freshman at Washington, he appeared in six games but did not record a tackle. As a sophomore he played in 13 games and finished the year with eight tackles. His junior season saw him play 14 games and finished with 14 tackles. He assumed the starting position at nose tackle as a senior, starting all 13 games, and recorded 37 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, one pass breakup, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and one blocked kick. He was originally signed by the Seattle Seahawks as an undrafted free agent following the 2016 NFL Draft. He participated in The Spring League, a developmental league, in 2017.
