VanGorder leaves for SC

December 19th, 2007

WIStv.com reports that linebackers coach Brian VanGorder has accepted the vacant defensive coordinator position at the University of South Carolina. He is the second assistant coach to depart the team in the wake of the resignation of head coach Bobby Petrino last week. The first was receivers coach and Petrino’s brother Paul, who is now the offensive coordinator at Arkansas. VanGorder was in his first year with the Falcons. VanGorder will join the Gamecocks coaching staff in January after the conclusion of the Falcons regular season.
