NFL.com’s Pat Kirwan reports that UNLV cornerback Eric Wright will work out for the Falcons on April 17.
Wright has recently been said to be climbing many draft boards this off-season, and some draft sites have indicated him as having one of the better off-seasons of any prospect.
At the Combine, Wright ran a 4.36 40-yard dash, tied for second among players at his position. The Falcons interest in Wright is somewhat surprising consider past off-field incidents involving Wright at USC, which caused him to transfer to UNLV. In 2004, Wright was charged with rape. The charges were later dropped, when the alleged victim failed to testify. The Falcons are considered one of teams that most thoroughly scrutinizes players and prospects such as Wright with “character concerns.”
His sole season at USC, he recorded 33 tackles and 2 interceptions and 6 pass breakups. This past year with UNLV, his only with at school, he recorded 29 tackles, 1 interception, and 8 breakups.
